Rain, snowfall bring life to a halt in Far-west

With the weather changing, most hilly districts including Dadeldhura have received snowfall in the Far-west province.
The freezing cold triggered by snowfall since last night has hit life very hard in Doti, Baitadi, Bajhang, Bajura, Darchula and Dadeldhura, among other districts.
Various places of Mahabharat, Abarkholi, Bhalumare, Sahukharka, Hagultelekh and highlands of Dadeldhura have received snowfall.
Excessive cold has forced locals to stay indoors. Dadeldhura CDO Mohanraj Joshi said this was the fifth time the district had received snowfall this year. Two-feet of snow has blocked vehicular movement at Hagultelekh along the Bhimdatta Highway, Dadeldhura-Dhangadi Highway and Dasarathchand Highway.
Dozers were used to remove snow to resume transport service after 10:00am today.
Likewise, highlands including Dasarathchand Highway, Khodape and Satbanjh received snowfall in Baitadi.
According to Inspector Gindra Bogati of Area Police Office, Patan, it snowed in Saipal Rural Municipality, Surma Rural Municipality, Chhabishpathibhera Rural Municipality, and Bangal Municipality.
Darchula’s Api, Rapla, Ghusa, Khandeswori, Chhirung, Byash, Tinkar, among other places, received snowfall.
Heavy snowfall has blanketed Doti’s highlands with snow. Swanda, Machhintola, Goladeu, Jhigrarana and headquarters Silgadi have been blanketed with snow in Doti.
The Far-west province’s major tourist destination Khaptad has had two-feet of snow. The heavy snowfall has given a hard time to Nepal Army personnel deployed at Khaptad Park. Snowfall, coupled with rain, has hit life very hard in the highlands of Bajura. Rain and snow have disrupted rural roads. Excessive cold has also affected patients, children and the elderly.
Closure of vehicular movement due to snowfall has led to shortage of daily essentials in rural areas, Himali Rural Municipality Chairman Govind Malla informed.
Incessant rainfall has disrupted telephone service in the eastern and northern areas of Bajura.
