Rallies by folk artistes, ex-security men

Folk singers and family of security personnel on Monday staged separate demonstrations in Narayangarh in support of the sevn-party movement for democracy.

At a rally, jointly organized by the Nawalparasi-based National Lok and Dohori Song Foundation and Chitwan-based Salleri Sanskritik Priwar, the singers not only sang but also danced in the streets.

The cultural rally began from Shramik Chowk and concluded on the premises of the office of Gaindakot VDC. The artistes expressed their commitment to the democratic movement through songs.

Meanwhile, a rally led by family members of ex-army and security personnel inspected the government offices that were padlocked by agitators on Sunday. The rally started from Shahid Chowk, went around various places including the office of Bharatpur municipality, District Forest Office, Drinking Water Division Office, DEO and concluded at Shahid Chowk. Ex-security personnel, their relatives and a bhajan mandali participated in the rally. Local people provided water and fruits to the agitators.

Meanwhile, in Ratnanagar too ex-policemen and their family members staged a pro-democracy rally.
