Ramechhap locals gear up for polls

With the date set for local level election, locals in Ramechhap district are hopeful that the elections will put an end to their plight.

Tired of bureaucracy and corruption in their local government, locals of Ramechhap said that are geared up to elect the right persons in the local government who will give impetus to development activities.

Local Bed Bahadur Karki of Tilpung VDC says each and every teashop is abuzz with election news.

“It is good that everyone is talking about it. These polls are important for our community,” said Karki.

Nepal Women’s Association Ramechhap Chairperson Ganga Adhikari was rather optimistic about the polls.

“We re looking forward to electing more women to important positions at the local bodies,” Adhikari said.

In view of the scheduled polls, the district election office of Ramechhap has ramped up its activities.

“As the mood for election has been set in this district, it is also critical that the election code of conduct be strictly implemented,” said Chief District Officer Surya Bahadur Khatri.
