At a programme organised today by the Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Ananda Devi), the president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Pashupati SJB Rana, emphasised on the formation of an all-party government to address the current political impasse. The programme was held to mark the second death anniversary of Gajendra Narayan Singh, the founder president of NSP.

Rana reiterated that prime minister Thapa’s resignation was a way out of the imbroglio, and a solution to various other problems including the citizenship issue. He said his party was serious about the citizenship issue, which was the major issue that Singh had raised after the restoration of democracy. Late Singh, regarded a Gandhian leader, was of the belief that discrimination among the people of the hills and the Terai region should come to an end.

The Indian envoy to Nepal Shyam Saran, maintained that since Nepal is facing a difficult time, the problems should be resolved keeping in mind a common target and objective.

He lauded late Singh’s role in the Nepali politics and his advocacy for the Terai people.

The central committee member of Nepali Congress, Ram Chandra Poudel, warned the future of the Royal Palace was bleak if the King fails to heed the people’s demands and desires.

The CPN-UML standing committee member KP Oli said the movement would continue till the constitutional process is brought back on track.

The president of Janamorcha Nepal, Amik Sherchan, however, said the joint movement would not go beyond April, as "the regression will definitely end within two months."
