KATHMANDU, MAY 22

Volunteer Corps Nepal in association with Pema Chhewang Sherpa & New Work Mustang Community representative Tsepak D Gurung, have launched a free 'Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test' campaign in Baragaun Muktichhetra Rural Municipality of Mustang District in Nepal.

This is the first ever campaign run by helping hands in rural Muktinath area in western Nepal.

According to Pema Chhewang, out of 603 rapid Covid antigen tests that were conducted, 57 people were tested positive.

The tests was carried out by the medical response team of VCN lead by Radha Matangi, Vice- President at VCN, in close coordination with Administrative Officer Gyandendra Sharma, Medical Representative Dr James Gurung, Health Assistant Khagendra Bohara, Female Community Health Volunteers & local representatives.

In the first two days, 17-18 May 2021, testing was organized in Rani Pauwa -1, for 400 individuals in support with the h​​ealth assistants and local representatives. As many as 44 had tested positive, Chhewang shared

In the last two days -- 19-20 May 2021 -- testing was organized in health post of Kagbeni-4 for 11 individuals wherein three had tested positive.

In Jharkot-1 out of 90 individuals, 10 were positive in the tests carried out in coordination with FCHV and local volunteers. In Chengur -2, out of 102 individual tests one was detected positive.

Suspected and tested Covid infected individuals were provided with free medications.

147 antigen testing kits, 100 tablets of medicines (Zinc, Vitamins, Vitamins) 20 sets PPE, five packets of gloves and 10 liters of sanitizers was handed to local rural municipality Health Post in coordination with ward chair and local administrative officer.
