Rare vulture species spotted in Pokhara

Pokhara, January 29:

About 150 vultures of three species, which are rare in the world, have been spotted in Pokhara. The three species Indian, black and Egyptian vultures were seen in Chauthe Phant of Pokhara-14 today.

Businessman Nasaruddin Miya, 70, of Pokhara-13 Miyapatan said he has seen four rare species of vultures in Pokhara. Eight different species of vultures are found in Nepal. Vulture experts said the number of vultures were seen after the use of diclophenek medicine for treating the animals were reduced.

Dr Kedar Basnet, lecturer at geography department of Prithvi Narayan Campus said different species of vultures found in west and east Nepal are also found in Pokhara.
