Rautahat LDO defies ministry’s directive, continues to play truant

Rautahat, March 10

Going against the directive of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development asking officials of local development offices to be compulsorily present, Local Development Officer of Rautahat, Umesh Basnet, has not reported to duty for the past four days.

With new local levels coming into effect from today, the ministry had issued a directive to LDOs across the  country to report to their duty stations. However, LDO Basnet was conspicuously absent today as well.

The ministry had issued the decree to the LDOs for the implementation of new local levels after the publication of the report of Local Bodies Restructuring Commission, which has created 744 new local levels, in the Nepal Gazette.

The LDOs have been barred from taking leave to make preparations for the upcoming local level election. The ministry has delegated the power to DDC to appoint staff at ward offices.
