Rautahat youth shot dead

An unidentified group shot a youth dead at Gigabada Belbechhiwa of Paroha Municipality in Rautahat today.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Abusaiyab, 25, of the municipality.

The unidentified group had shot at the youth while he was sleeping in his house. Abusaiyab died early this morning before they could take him to a nearby health facility.

Police said he critically injured youth had received two rounds of bullets on his chest.

Abusaiyab was the son of Nepali Congress candidate Mohammad Serajuddin who was defeated in Ward No 2 of the municipality. Ajajul Rahaman from the CPN-Maoist Centre had won the election in the ward.

Police said the body has been kept in District Hospital, Rautahat, for post-mortem. The deceased family, however, took their stance that they would not receive the body until action was taken against the culprit.

Meanwhile, SP Yagya Binod Pokhrel in District Police Office, Rautahat said that police took two persons under control for their alleged involvement in the case.

SP Pokhrel said that the incident might have taken place on the issue of elections. Further investigation into the incident is under way, said police.
