Rebellion is UN-approved right: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of main opposition UCPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, today warned of revolt in case other political parties continued disrespecting people’s verdict of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

He also hinted at a colossal damage of lives in case such situation occurred. “Rebellion is people’ right even approved by the United Nations,” he said, while speaking at a book

release programme organised by All Nepal Progressive Public Health Workers Association

in Kathmandu.

“If the nation goes into conflict, then 1 million people will be killed, which is far more than those 10,000 people who sacrificed their lives during the people’s war,” he claimed.

According to the Maoist supremo, other political parties, accusing the Maoists of trying to capture all state power, termed it legitimate any step taken by the President. “At this hour, everyone should wake up for the treatment of the injured nation,” he said.

He also said there was immense contribution by his party to bring the nation at this stage through ceasefire, 12-point agreement and other accords. “Constituent Assembly, republic and peace process would have been impossible had our party not declared three-month ceasefire and signed the 12-point agreement and others,” he said claiming, “Peace and CA are the offspring of the people’s war.” Talking about the reinstatement of the then army chief Rookmangud Katawal by the President, he said, “The ‘explosion’ at the President Office has seriously injured the nation; we should join hands to treat the hurt motherland.” He said

people should now track down

and book those “culprits who planted the landmine at the

President’s Office.”
