Recalled envoys given 45 days

Kathmandu, May 9:

Tweleve ambassadors who have been recalled to Kathmandu have been given 45 days time to settle the matters they were handling at the embassies they were in charge of.

The cabinet had , on Sunday, recalled them. Ten among the 12 were political appointees and two, former Ministry of Finance officials.

“The ministry has already asked those ambassadors to be back in 45 days,” said a MoFA official. Retired generals Prajwalla Shumsher Rana, Tara Bahadur Thapa and Victory Shumsher Rana are among those recalled. They were ambassadors in France, Thailand and Myanmar respectively.

Ambassadors like Kedar Bhakta Shrestha in the United States and Prabal Shumsher Rana in the United Kingdom were former foreign ministry officials and former SAARC directors.
