KATHMANDU, MARCH 7
Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak announced that the reconstruction of private houses has begun in earthquake-affected areas.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project Implementation Unit Office in Bajhang, Minister Lekhak stated that reconstruction efforts have commenced at the district level following the formulation of standards, regulations, and the allocation of necessary funds for rebuilding earthquake-damaged structures.
"The implementation unit will coordinate the reconstruction of both public office buildings and private houses," Minister Lekhak added.
He emphasized the crucial role of local governments in the reconstruction process, stating that the pace of rebuilding will accelerate once beneficiaries are identified, selected, and recommended without delay.
The Home Minister reiterated that rehabilitating disaster-affected communities, including earthquake survivors, remains a top government priority. He further stressed the need for collective efforts from all sectors to drive development and recovery.
