‘Reconstruction, statute execution govt’s top priorities’

Minister for Finance Bishnu Paudel said the government had prioritised post-quake reconstruction and implementation of the new constitution.
Responding to queries related to the Ministry of Finance raised by parliamentarians during the meeting of the legislature-parliament here today, Minister Paudel stated that the budget had targeted 6.5 per cent economic growth and aimed to lay the foundation of economic growth and socialist economy.
Paudel called for cooperation from all quarters to implement the newly unveiled budget estimates for fiscal year 2016/017.
According to him, the new budget also focuses on the reconstruction effort and that the government would leave no stone unturned to put in place various measures to curb inflation.
He also shared that the budget was prepared in line with the 14th national plan of the National Planning Commission. He said adequate budget and resources had been ensured for projects of national pride as well as for Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
“The government has paid special attention towards providing easy and convenient financial services to public by re-establishing banks and financial intuitions that were forced to shut down during the insurgency,” said Minister Paudel.
Minister Poudel also pledged to create adequate job opportunities in the country to reduce the dependency of Nepali citizens on foreign employment.
Ramhari Khatiwada, Prem Suwal, Amar Singh Pun, Nabindra Raj Joshi and Hitraj Pandey had sought clarification from Minister Paudel on various issues related to the MoF.
