The Weather Forecasting Division recorded record high temperatures across the country on Thursday. Nepalgunj witnessed the highest temperature, searing at 44.2 degrees Celsius.
Govinda Jha, a meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, informed that today's record is the highest temperature ever measured in Nepalgunj. The city, located in the western plains of Nepal, experienced a burning atmosphere in the afternoon.
The adjacent city of Dhangadhi recorded 44.1 degrees Celsius on the same day. Last month, Bhairahawa had witnessed 43.6 degrees Celsius.
On Thursday, Biratnagar sweltered at 41 degrees Celsius, and Ghorahi reached 40.2 degrees Celsius.
Even the hilly cities, including the federal capital Kathmandu and the tourist capital Pokhara, experienced scorching weather. It was 34 degrees Celsius in Pokhara and 34.4 degrees Celsius in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Currently, local winds and westerly winds are impacting Nepal's weather, along with the slight influence of a low-pressure system in the vicinity of Bihar, India.
