Refurbishment of physical structures intensifies

Biratnagar, January 31

Refurbishment of physical structures to house the Provincial Assembly facilities is being carried out on a war footing in Province 1 provincial headquarters Biratnagar, ahead of the first Provincial Assembly meeting in a week’s time.

The government has allocated around 75 million rupees to upgrade the structures that will house the Provincial Assembly hall and ministries. “While 50 million rupees will be spent interior repairs, 10 million rupees has been allocated for the purchase of furniture and construction of compound and parking. An additional 5 million rupees has been set aside for purchase and repair of machinery,” said Urban Development and Building Construction Division Office Chief Shyam Kishor Singh.

Chief District Officer Ram Prasad Acharya of Morang said the existing government offices and buildings are being managed efficiently to accommodate new provincial offices. “While the existing regional agriculture office will be shifted to the ground floor, the offices of provincial chief secretary and chief minister will be located on the first and the second floors,” he said, adding that the regional livestock office will be shifted to the district livestock office building. “As the current site of the governor’s office at the regional livestock office is not spacious, we are planning to shift it to the regional forest directorate now,” he said.

Similarly, CDO Acharya said the first and second floors of the District Coordination Committee office will be used as offices of the speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
