Regulation panel fails to reach consensus

Kathmandu, February 6:

A parliamentary committee formed to draft the Regulations of the legislature-parliament could not reach to a consensus today on the issue of whether or not to have provision of the opposition leader.

The meeting of the committee, however, finalised the Regulations of the legislature-parliament, and also decided to submit a suggestion for incorporating five-point provisions

in the Interim Constitution, 2007.

The committee is for introducing a provision that would allow the Prime Minister to convene the special session of the legislature-parliament at a time when the House is sitting as per the request of the 25 percent of lawmakers.

The committee is also suggesting to introduce of a provision that would be applicable at a time when it is necessary for the Prime Minister to acquire vote of confidence of the legislature-parliament.

The committee is suggesting also to introduce a provision that would allow a certain number of lawmakers to propose a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister when it is necessary.
