Relief for slain ward chief’s family
Biratnagar, March 28:
Chief district officer of Morang Narendra Dahal and mayor of Biratnagar sub-metropolis and Prahalad Shah today handed over a cheque of Rs 6,00000 to Shanti Devi, wife of the late Triveni Majhi, chairperson of ward-15 of Biratnagar sub-metropolis.
Maoists had shot Majhi, who was elected unopposed to the post of chairman, to death at his residence on February 2. The Election Commission had provided the sum.
Earlier, Home Minister Kamal Thapa had provided Rs 1,50,000 to Majhi. However, family members of Deepak Gurung, who was also killed in the incident, said they have not got any amount as relief, said Shankar Gurung, son of the deceased. Wife, two daughters and two sons of Deepak are facing difficulties following the killing of Deepak.
Deepak was killed while he had come to Majhi’s house to congratulate him. Documents have been sent to the authority to provide relief to the family of deceased Gurung, said CDO Dahal.
Mayor Shah promised to provide job to Nirmal, son of Triveni, at the office of the sub-metropolis and provide free education to two daughters.
