Report of High-Level National Education Commission will be made public: Minister Pokharel
KATHMANDU: Lawmaker Radheshyam Adhikari, in today's meeting of the National Assembly (NA), asked Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel when the report of High-Level National Education Commission would be made public.
Responding to the query, Minister Pokharel said that the report would be made public after completing certain process.
Minister Pokharel said that the 500-page report would lay the foundation for National Education Policy and new acts related to education.
Stating that the new Education Act would replace the Education Policy 2028, he informed that the report was yet to be made public as it was under deliberations with the Council of Ministers.
Furthermore, the Education Minister shared that around 400 local units had seen establishment of educational institutions as per government's policy regarding technical educational institution - in all 753 local units while 481 schools were launching vocational education.
According to him, efforts were on to coordinate with various universities to produce human resources needed for imparting vocational education and scholarship was being commissioned by the Chinese government to Nepali students.
On the occasion, he also said that the procedure to implement subsidised loan scheme for youths interested to start business by pledging their academic certificates as collateral had already been approved.
Responding to another query posed by lawmaker Prakash Pant on government's plan and programmes to enroll drop-out students to schools, the Minister replied that the School Enrollment Campaign was being launched through local units while the federal government was supporting the initiative.
According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, of the 313,000 children of school going age, 254,000 students were already enrolled in schools.
