KATHMANDU, MAY 29

The 18th Republic Day is being observed across the country today to commemorate Nepal's transition to a republican system following the People's Movement of 2006.

A special ceremony is being held at the Nepal Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, where President Ramchandra Paudel and other dignitaries are scheduled to participate. The event includes tributes to martyrs and acknowledgments of those who contributed to the democratic struggle.

All three levels of government are organizing programmes to mark the historic occasion, which symbolizes the people's aspiration for change and the official declaration of Nepal as a republic.
