KATHMANDU, APRIL 8
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has dismissed the notion of a monarchy revival in Nepal, calling it nothing more than a "daydream."
Inaugurating the 11th District Convention of the CPN (UML) in Siraha on Tuesday, Prime Minister Oli asserted that the Nepali people would no longer accept the return of the monarchy. He remarked that the actions of pro-monarchists on March 28 had exposed their true intentions.
"The idea of reviving the monarchy is a mere illusion-it serves no purpose," he stated, assuring the public that the current republican system will not be dismantled.
The Prime Minister further condemned the anarchic and violent acts committed by certain elements, including the arson of private homes, a pharmaceutical company, and a media house, as well as the murder of an individual who was set on fire inside a locked building. "Such destructive acts are unacceptable," he emphasized.
Reiterating his commitment to good governance, development, and prosperity, Oli said the government is working tirelessly to fulfill the national aspiration of a "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis." He pledged to strengthen democracy by enhancing social justice, equality, inclusivity, and the proportional representation system.
During his address, PM Oli also highlighted the government's priority to complete the construction of the Kamala Bridge along the Postal Highway connecting Dhanusha and Siraha districts within the stipulated timeframe.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister addressed the Madhes Province Assembly in Janakpur.
