Authorities urge residents to remain alert and avoid flood-affected roads

RAUTAHAT, JULY 14

Rising water levels in the Lalbakaiya River and local streams following continuous rainfall have begun disrupting daily life in parts of Rautahat, with floodwaters inundating a road section and washing away a diversion road.

According to local authorities, the Lalbakaiya River at Rajpur Municipality-2 remains below the warning level but its flow has been steadily increasing.

Police said that from around 2:15 pm on Tuesday, floodwaters overflowed by about one foot across the low-lying road section west of the Fatuwa Lalbakaiya Bridge. Vehicular movement, however, remained operational at the time of reporting, while authorities urged residents living near the river to remain vigilant.

Meanwhile, flooding washed away the diversion road at an under-construction bridge over the Lamha Khola on the Balchanpur–Jungalsaiya inner road in Gujara Municipality-9, completely severing road connectivity in both directions.

A police team led by Sub-Inspector Sikindra Prasad Yadav from the Simrabhawanipur Area Police Office has been deployed to the site to assist with security and coordination.

Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal has urged the public to use alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel in flood-affected areas as monsoon rains continue.
