RJP for a democratic union

Kathmandu, November 16:

The Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) has initiated efforts to unite democratic parties with a view to “consolidating democracy”.

The party has also decided to convene the party’s general convention tentatively on March 15 next year. Party spokesperson Sarbendra Nath Shukla said the RJP would strongly caution the ruling political parties from taking the “wrong way”.

“We will continue to caution the government and other parties if they deviate from the democratic path,” Shukla said.

The central committee meeting of the party held today at the party office, Kamalpokhari, discussed unity among the democratic forces.

The parties, however, should “qualify” some major conditions including sticking to basic principles of democracy, committed to the Parliament announcement, protesting the February 1 Royal move, and committed to the Janaandolan II to be eligible for the broader democratic unity, a RJP leader said.
