BIRATNAGR: Police on Friday arrested 14 cadres of the Madhesh-centric political party-Rastriya Janata Party Nepal when they were about to padlock the Regional Election Office in Biratnagar.

The apprehended are the RJP-N Morang Chapter Coordinator Mohammad Kadi, Central Committee Secretary Jagdish Adhikari and Central Committee members Chandra Prasad Rajbanshi and Rajib KC among others.

The RJP has been protesting the June 28 elections dissenting with the government's decision of deferring the second phase of local level elections in Province No 2 and not addressing their demands, .

According to the RJP, police have kept the arrestees at the Ward Police Office.
