RNA respecting int’l rights treaty, says official

Dang, April 1:

The RNA is launching an effective offensive against the Maoists which is completely in line with the international treaty on human rights, said the RNA’s No 19 Brigade Commander in Tulsipur, Ram Bahadur Gurung. Addressing a convocation ceremony of the military basic training organised by the brigade office, the Brigade Commander Gurung, said it is the military’s obligation to protect human rights.

“Effective offensive should be launched by focussing on the people and following the international treaty on human rights,” he said. “The RNA, which is committed to the nation, Crown and the people, is achieving significant success in its war against terrorism,” he added. The Brigade Commander also claimed that the royal move of February 1 has raised the confidence of the security forces.

Gurung distributed prizes to Juhari Lal Khatri, Harka Bahadur Thapa and Chandra Prakash Gharti Magar who stood first, second and third respectively in the training.

He also gave away prizes to Bhupendra Shahi, Dhanesh Kumar Thapa, Bhakta Bahadur Khadka and Bhupendra Pun for achieving excellence in various fields during the training.
