Road accidents on the rise in Tanahun

Damauli, May 7

As many as 36 persons lost their lives while 189 were injured road accidents in Tanahun in the nine months of the current fiscal.

Of those killed, 32 were male and four female, according to the District Police Office, Tanahun. Of the injured, 134 were male and 55 female, said Assistant sub-inspector Om Prakash Paudel.

Last year, 41 people were killed and 330 injured in accidents in the district. The data this year show rise in the number of road accidents.

The traffic office attributed negligence on the part of driver, narrow roads, speeding and driving under the influence to rise in road accidents.

Assistant sub-inspector Paudel said his office had launched a campaign to make people aware about traffic rules and regulations.

In the same period, revenue to the tune of Rs 32,73,800 was collected by taking action against 9,350 vehicles.
