Kathmandu, January 3:

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) today demanded immediate formation of local bodies on the basis of all-party representation.

Following severe criticism for its “ineffective” role in government from some members of the party’s central working committee (CWC), the party also asked its ministers to play a more influential role in the coalition, including the formation of local bodies.

After the CWC meeting that concluded today, party spokesperson Roshan Karki told reporters: “There was discontent voiced by some members about the role of RPP ministers.”

Talking to reporters after the meet, party president Pashupati SJB Rana expressed satisfisfaction over the government’s “serious” peace efforts. Stating that restoring peace was not an easy task, Rana claimed that the establishment of the Peace Secretariat was in itself a “significant” achievement. The party has also urged the Maoists to come to the talks table.
