RPP confusion on elections continues

Kathmandu, November 2:

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is set to register the party at the Election Commission (EC) “soon after Tihar”.

Party leaders, including spokesperson Roshan Karki, said that the party would be registered at the EC for the upcoming municipal elections to be held in February 8, 2006.

“The document is almost ready,” Karki told this daily. “Most probably we will be at the EC by Monday.” She also said that the party would take part in the elections.

Party general secretary Deepak Bohara, however, said that the party is yet to formally decide on whether to take part in the elections . “We will definitely register at the EC but our stance is that there has to be a conducive environment for elections,” he said.

Central working committee (CWC) member Bhuwan Pathak, too said that the party will take part in the polls. “We are waiting for a few more signatures from the CWC members, who are currently not in the Valley,” he said.

Leaders Bikram Pandey and Bohara said the party would be registered at the EC after Tihar. “The only question is that there has to be a conducive environment for elections,” Bohara said But he added: “ An all-party government to hold elections and a conducive atmosphere are a must.”
