Bibhatsu Thapa to contest a direct seat; party names proportional representation candidates across categories

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 29

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) District Working Committee of Dhankuta has submitted its recommended list of candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026. The submission, covering both direct and proportional representation (PR) systems, was sent to the party's central office in Kathmandu on December 26.

For the direct electoral seat, RPP has nominated Bibhatsu Thapa, 30, a social work graduate with experience in community development, child rights, protection of differently-abled children, and youth sports, having represented Nepal in the under-19 national cricket team.

Under the proportional representation system, the party has named candidates across multiple categories:

Khas/Arya: Kumar Bahadur Thapa

Open Female: Indira Bhandari

Indigenous/Janjati Male: Dharmadhwoj Rai, Man Bahadur Bishwokarma, Narendra Rai

Indigenous/Janjati Female: Shanumaya Tamang, Pabitra Shrestha, Dhanmaya Gurung, Rubina Sunar, Namuna Rai

The list was reportedly approved at a committee meeting held on December 25.
