RPP-Nepal finalises names, portfolios for State and Assistant ministers, DPM Thapa to oversee Local Development

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa's Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal on Monday finalised the names of ministerial nominees along with the portfolios for them in the KP Sharma Oli-led coalition government.

Thapa who was inducted in the Cabinet as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs will oversee the Ministry of Local Development, and Minister Ram Kumar Subba, who currently does not have any portfolio, will get the leadership of Ministry of Land Reforms, according to RPP-Nepal sources.

The name list of party's ministerial nominees include Kunti Kumari Shahi as the Minister of State for Local Development, and Biraj Bista as the Assistant Minister for Local Development.

Likewise, Bikram Thapa has been included in the list as the Minister of State for Land Reforms and Dinesh Shrestha as the Assistant Minister for Land Reforms.

The new state ministers and assistant ministers of state would be inducted when Prime Minister Oli will expand the Cabinet.

In the 19-member Cabinet, there are three Deputy Prime Ministers, 13 ministers and  two state ministers. Four ministers and three state ministers have not been any portfolios yet, while Prime Minister Oli has held 14 ministries with himself.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli's party CPN-UML held discussion on the Cabinet expansion and probable candidates for the ministerial job at the party's Standing Committee meeting today.

The Standing Committee meeting will resume discussion on the matter tomorrow also.
