Rs 29m Indian aid for KU auditorium

Kathmandu/Kavre, May 17:
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee today laid the foundation stone for the CV Raman auditorium on the premises of the Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Kavre.
The Indian Government will be cooperating with the Government of Nepal by extending assistance of Rs 29 million for the construction of the auditorium, according to a statement issued by the mission here today.
The statement said that construction of the educational infrastructure in the KU premises, would go a long way in enhancing the academic and cultural environment at the university and strengthen bonds of cooperation between India and Nepal in this vital sector.
Meanwhile, speaking at the foundation laying ceremony, Raj Parishad member Bel Prasad Shrestha stressed importance of the need of education for development.
KU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Suresh Raj Sharma expressed gratitude to the Indian government for the help.
The Indian embassy also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nepal government for the construction of a school building, science laboratory, library building and hall for the Ambebar Janata Secondary School, Rajbas, Triyuga Municipality, Udayapur.
