Rural electrification in limbo sans budget
KHOTANG: Elecricity services in the district have been affected as the construction of sub-stations in Bueipa and Rasuwaghat are yet to be completed.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had started the construction seven years ago. Hulas Steel Company had taken the responsibility of the construction. Five years after the deadline, the company is yet to complete the task. Due to incomplete works, the stations transmit 11KV instead of the supposed 33 KV power.
According to Dhan Bahadur Adhikari, acting chief, NEA, they were not able to perform tests of the lines with 33KV due to lack of budget. High voltage transformers in Saune, Rasuwa, Baghedhunga, Regmitar and Buipa VDCs were needed for the test, he added. And that would require an additional Rs 50 million, he said.
