A rural municipality chair and vice-chair exchanged blows over the distribution of seeds to farmers in Saptari today.

Chair Surya Narayan Mandal and vice-chair Usha Devi Mandal of Chhinnamasta Rural Municipality hit each other with chairs after a dispute broke out over distribution of seeds to farmers. Two of Mandal's teeth broke, while vicechair Mandal's hand has received deep cut, according to Rautahat District Coordination Committee Chief Prabhakar Yadav. Chair Mandal is from Janata Samjbadi Party-Nepal while the vice-chair is from the Samajbadi Party's breakaway faction Loktantrik Samajbadi Party. According Yadav, a meeting was held to discuss the distribution of seeds purchased by the rural municipality from the Agriculture Office.

Chair Mandal wanted to distribute seeds to a few wards while vice-chair Mandal wanted to distribute seeds proportionally to all wards.
