Sadbhawana Party's Mahato meets Nepali Congress President Koirala

KATHMANDU: Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato met Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the latter's residence in Maharajgunj on Monday morning.

During the meeting, according to Mahato, he made it clear to Koirala that the ongoing crisis could not be resolved without addressing the issue of demarcation of provincial boundaries, and urged the latter to take an initiative to forge agreement among the stakeholders.

In response, Koirala stressed on the resolving the issues through negotiations and suggested Mahato that the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front should be flexible.

After his return from New Delhi, Mahato had met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba yesterday.

Mahato is scheduled to meet UCPN-Maoist Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at 4 pm today, according to the Sadbhawana Party sources.

It has been learned that Mahato would fly to Janakpur tomorrow and go Siraha. He is scheduled to take part in a programme in the district headquarters, Lahan, and organised a press conference also.

According to the Sadbhawana Party, he would visit other districts in the Tarai-Madhes region also.

Mahato was injured in police action in the Nepal-India border in Biratnagar on December 6. He went to New Delhi on January 1 for further treatment. After getting discharged from the Gurgaon-based Medanta Hospital on January 6, he spent 11 days in the Indian capital where he met various Indian leaders, including President Pranab Mukherjee.
