SAFA Tempo service starts in Lamjung

LAMJUNG: The commercial SAFA Tempo transport service has kick started for the first time in Lamjung district.

The transport entrepreneurs in Besisahar have started operating the tempo service. The service will run within the Besisahar town, entrepreneur Narayan Prasad Ghimire said.

The SAFA tempo translated as 'clean tempo' is an electric three wheeler vehicle. It underwent a successful test drive on Saturday transporting four passengers from Manange Chautara of Besisahar to Gaunsahar's Bhakunde area.

Bhakunde's local Ganesh Kandel said the tempo service has come as a huge relief to passengers who have been facing hardship in finding easy access to transport service. Kandel said the vehicles heading to Besisahar were always full and they could not get seats. Moreover, during the return trip it was difficult to find the buses as the bus staff prevented the local passengers saying the trip was only up to Bhakunde.  Now that tempo service has come into operation, locals have heaved sigh of relief.

Following a successful test drive, entrepreneur Ghimire said regular tempo service will now come into operation after determining minimum rate of the transport fare.
