Saptakoshi water level recorded at year's highest mark Saturday

ITAHARI: Water level in the Saptakoshi River was measured at 250,252 cubic foot per second (cusec) at 5 pm on Saturday, the highest so far this year, said Sunsari Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur Chapagain.

As many as 33 sluice gates of the Koshi Barrage have been opened till this evening following increment in the water level. Water level crossing the limit of 150,000 cusec is said to be a sign of danger.

Meanwhile, the flooded river deluged villages of Kaptangunj VDC-5, 6, 7 and 8, and Tanamuna VDC-2.

Likewise, with the increment in the water level, areas bordering Bihar in India are put on high alert with the help from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, said Chapagain.
