RAJBIRAJ: A child drowned while swimming in a local pond at Trikol-9 of Saptari district on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Santoshi Mandal (13) of Trikol-9 in the district. Mandal had been to a pond in the locality to bath her buffalo when the incident took place, according to District Police Office, Saptari.

The body has been kept at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in the district headquarters Rajbiraj for postmortem, police said.
