Saptari flood victims accuse officials of relief irregularities

RAJBIRAJ: Flood victims of Tilathi VDC in Saptari district have submitted a memorandum to the Chief District Officer Baldev Gautam demanding investigation into alleged anomalies in the relief distribution and provide them with consumables as soon as possible.

The locals have also staged a strike since Sunday to pressurise the local body to probe into the matter and take action against the officials for their irregularities in distribution of the logistics.

Earlier, the locals had warned the District Administration Office officials of staging a strike if their demands were not fulfilled.

Out of 667 families, who were displaced by the flood in Khando River about a couple of months ago, as many as 579 families are yet to get the relief items, according to the locals.
