Saptari VDC secy 'flees' with allowance money

RAJBIRAJ: A village  secretary has gone out of contact for two weeks without distributing the social security allowance allotted by District Development Committee.

"The District Development Committee had allotted a total of Rs 2.13 million on March 18 as a social security allowance and nutrition allowance for the Dalit children," said Harihar Chaudhary, Chief of the Registration Department of the Committee, adding, the Manraja VDC Secretary Bindu Lal Chaudhary was out of contact while he failed to distribute the allowance.

According to Dhirendra Kumar Yadav, Planning and Administration Officer of the Committee, "Chaudhary was in contact till April 25, but went missing ever since."

"We have sent a letter to the District Administration Office through police, requesting them to find Chaudhary," added Yadav.

SP Bhim Prasad Dhakal said that a team has been deployed for the search operation to find Chaudhary and his technical assistant Dhirendra Yadav.

Around 200 elderly of the village, who are protesting since April 25 in Rabiraj, have demanded action against Chaudhary.

It has been learned that Chaudhary has misappropriated the money that was allocated for the development of the village.

Kusum Khanga, a local said, "We had talked to the Secretary and the DDC about it, but our voice over the issue was not heard."
