SC’s transfer policy for staffers in Tarai
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has recently adopted a new policy to transfer judges and court staffers after serving a year in theTarai districts.
Considering the Tarai movement, the apex court had adopted the new policy. "The court staffers would get transfer after serving a year in any district seriously affected in the Tarai movement," said Lohit Chandra Shah, SC's acting registrar. The policy was adopted for security of the staffers, he informed.Meanwhile, Jivan Hari Adhikary, secretary Judicial Service Commission said that the policy also applied to judges working in seriously affected districts. The Judicial Service Act 1990, however, has ensured the transfer of judges after two years in office. The SC has adopted this policy of transfer of staffers under the second five-year strategic plan. The SC had thought of the new policy after the Tarai movement.
According to Shah, the staffers in Rautahat, Saptari, Siraha, Bara, Parsa, Sarlahi, Dhanusha and Mahottari, would be benefited.The SC has categorised these districts as seriously affected. While Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Nawalparasi, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur and Dang are mildly affected ones.
