School padlocked

DAILEKH: Women of Bhairibkalikathum Village Development Committee, ward no 5 have padlocked local Yuba Primary school located in Budhanama since February 25, claiming irregularities in the school. Women have accused Headmaster Baliram Thapa of misusing scholarships fund, coming to school under the influence of alcohol and being irregular in the school. Some two hundred students are enrolled in the school. Sita Shahi, secretary, Aama Samuha, said, "We were compelled to take this step as the teachers were irresponsible towards students' future.'' Chairperson of the group Sunita Thapa said they would not unlock school until the headmaster promised to improve the quality of education of the school and transparency in monetary matter.
