School principal held for sexually harassing girl students while drunk

NAWALPARASI: Police arrested a headmaster after girl students residing the school hostel complained of inappropriate and repeated sexual advances made by the principal while inebriated. The students were residing at the hostel to prepare for Secondary Education Exams (SEE).

Guardians accused Gaidakot based Mukunda Sen Boarding School Principal Rajendra Poudel of dropping by their daughters’ dormitories in a drunken state and making sexual gestures and advances.

The headmaster repeatedly harassed the girls until they were impelled to open up the matter to us, guardians said.

According to police, the principal had fled the scene after the guardians and students picketed the school.

“We have held Poudel and launched an investigation into the matter,” Police Inspector Lok Bahadur GC said.

“Principal Poudel made inappropriate advances and harassed us multiple times. But we stayed tight-lipped in fear that we would be shamed if we speak up,” one of the girls subjected to the principal's immoral advances said.

Given that, guardians have demanded stern actions against the accused and student relocation as the school now remains shut over the incident.
