Kathmandu, May 26:
Although Maoists have withdrawn their call for indefinite educational strike that was targeted against private schools, most such schools in the districts are yet to resume operations since the last month. Mission schools providing quality education, are the worst-hit. According to BN Sharma, vice-president of the Private and Boarding Schools Organisation Nepal (PABSON), mission schools like Notre Dame of Bandipur, a Japanese Mission School and St Mary’s School of Gorkha have closed down since this academic year. Private schools in Panc-hthar, Ilam, Surkhet, Ka-ilali, Dang, Tanahu, Gor-kha and Palpa are closed. “Thousands of students have been affected by the closure and the government’s apathy has worsened the situation,” said Sharma.
