A man was swept away along with his scooter by a flash flood in Simkhola of Indrasarowar Rural Municipality-2, Makwanpur, on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 3 pm while the rider was attempting to cross the swollen stream near the Kulekhani Dam, according to police.
District Police Office Makwanpur spokesperson DSP Madhav Kafle said the identity of the missing rider and the scooter's registration number have yet to be established.
"Local residents informed us that a man was swept away with his scooter. Detailed information is still being collected," Kafle said, adding that eyewitnesses identified the victim as a male.
A joint search operation involving Nepal Police, the Nepali Army and the Armed Police Force has been launched. However, continuous rainfall and strong flood currents have made rescue and search efforts difficult, police said.
