Flood triggered by incessant rainfall has inundated more than one dozen houses at various places of Siraha.

Flood water from the pond that breached its embankment has submerged one dozen houses at Betauna of Golbazaar Municipality. Following the inundation, locals are taking shelter at their neighbours' homes. The flood water has destroyed some thatched houses.

Local Indra Devi Mandal said that flood water had damaged crops and grains too. "After the flood water swept away the crops and grains, we had today's morning meal at our neighbour's home," Mandal said.

Incessant rainfall has destroyed two houses in Golbazaar Municipality and one house in Siraha's Dhangadhimai Municipality, according to Siraha CDO Pradip Kandel. A dozen shops were inundated after flood water gushed into the Mirchaiya area. Rainfall has caused damage worth millions.

Two persons trapped in the swollen Kamala River were rescued safely. Personnel of Nepali Army, APF and Nepal Police rescued them from the Kamala River, said CDO Kandel.

The local administration has asked people living on the river banks and downstream to stay on high alert. Increasing water level at Baba Lake at Bandipur of Karjanha Municipality has gushed into villages, locals say.
