Security beefed up in all govt offices

In the wake of a bomb explosion at the office of Biratnagar Metropolitan City a few days ago, security has been beefed up in all government offices and local levels of Province 1.

A 24-hour security has been put in place at government offices and local levels in the province. All security agencies have been put on a high alert.

According to Province 1 Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, Nepali Army, Nepal Police, APF and National Investigation Bureau have been put on high alert to control activities launched by Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha led by Jaya Krishna Goit and Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN in different districts of the Tarai.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hikmat Karki said all security agencies had been directed to tighten security for safety of people and property. “The ministry has directed all the security agencies to control general strike, unruly activities and unlawful activities at any cost,” Karki added.

Province 1 Police Office Biratnagar said that police personnel were guarding all the government offices in Biratnagar.

Trained dogs have been used to guard government offices in Sunsari.

District Police Office Sunsari Chief SP Rajan Adhikari said that security had been tightened to control activities of the Chand-led Maoist party.

Province 1 Police Chief DIGP Kedar Rijal said that security was put on high alert after Chand-led Maoist and other parties’ activities increased in the province. “More police personnel have been deployed than in normal times,” Rijal said.
