Security scenario worrisome: MPs

Kathmandu, July 26:

Members of Parliament (MPs) today expressed concern about the “deteriorating” law and order situation. They said that the constituent assembly polls slated for November 22 cannot be held if the situation is not brought under control.

MPs, including Chitra Bahadur KC, said that the elections cannot be conducted if the government fails to control criminal activities in the Tarai and improve the law and order situation.

MP Padam Lal Biswokarma warned that the Dalits will be compelled to launch an agitation if the government keeps on ignoring their demands. MP Rajendra Pandey asked, “If the dissolved House can be reinstated, why can’t the local bodies be revived?”

Pandey said the local bodies can be revived by giving some seats to the Maoists. MP Salikram Jamakattel said that his party (CPN-Maoist) will not stand the government decision of setting up a separate industrial security force.
