KATHMANDU, JULY 29
Security has been further tightened in Dewanganj of Sunsari following the deadly clash between members of two communities, with the Nepal Army launching aerial patrols and security forces maintaining an increased presence in the area.
Authorities said on Wednesday that the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army are jointly conducting security operations, while the curfew imposed in the affected area remains in force to prevent any further unrest.
Meanwhile, a government-formed probe committee and the District Security Committee conducted an on-site inspection of the incident area and met the family of 24-year-old Om Prakash Mehta, who was killed during the violence.
The government has constituted a five-member investigation committee to establish the facts surrounding the incident and has directed it to submit its report within one week.
The clash erupted in Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3, Kaptaan Ganj, on July 26 after a dispute between youths from two communities escalated into violence, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
