Security to improve in two weeks: Minister

TANAHUN: State Minster for Home Affairs Rijwan Ansari today said the government was planning to improve the security situation in two weeks.

Addressing a programme organised by the Tanahun chapter of Nepal Muslim Ittehad in Damauli, Ansari said, “The government is planning to empower the security bodies.”

Stating that the government had adopted a new security strategy to maintain law and order, he promised improved security within two weeks.

“The incidents of intimidation, extortion and abduction will be controlled soon,” Ansari said. “I’d rather resign than work against the people’s sentiment.”

In order to check the bandhs and strikes on the highways, the government will provide relief for the kin of anyone who dies in a road accident. He also urged the Tarai-based armed groups to come for talks.“Armed rebellion is not a deciding factor. Only talk and peaceful movement are lasting remedies,” he said.

He added the government was preparing to form a commission to mainstream all the religious minorities. He said attempts were underway to establish a Hajj House.
