KATHMANDU, JULY 27

The Office of the Controller of Examinations, National Examination Board, today published results of Grade X, also called Secondary Education Examination.

Examinations were held in April/ May after two years. The last two batches of Class X cleared SEE without having to appear for exams due to the COVID pandemic. The last two batches passed out after students were evaluated internally by their respective schools.

A total of 518,351 students, including 260,878 girls and 259,486 boys from 11,615 schools, had registered for the exams. Of them, 22,640 (4.57 per cent) didn't appear for the exams. Under the Grade Point Average system, 9,633 students (1.94 per cent) - 5,281 boys and 4,352 girls - scored A-plus. The number is 2.88 percentage points less than in 2019.

NEB blamed the decline in the percentage of students securing A-plus (GPA 3.6 to 4) on the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted smooth teaching and learning activities.

As many as 41,627 students (8.4 per cent) secured GPA 3.2 to 3.6, 69,999 students (14.1 per cent) got GPA 2.8 to 3.2, and 90,578 students (18.31 per cent) obtained GPA 2.4 to 2.8.

The highest number of 112,733 students (22.74 per cent) secured GPA 2 to 2.4; whereas 100,594 students (20.29 per cent) got GPA 1.6 to 2. The number of students obtaining GPA 1.2 to 1.6 and GPA 0.8 to 1.2 is 44,586 (8.994 per cent) and 3,280 (0.662 per cent), respectively.

As many as 22,536 students are ungraded and will not be eligible to pursue studies in upper grade. However, they can take up to three chance examinations to increase the score. Students not satisfied with the grading can apply for re-totalling within 15 days of the results.
