A 52-year-old man who had been reported missing from his home was found dead at the bottom of a cliff in a forested area of Chure Rural Municipality-1, Kailali, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Yagya Bahadur Bohara of Nigali. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hira Singh Mahar, chief of the Area Police Office, Malakheti, Bohara's body was discovered in the Tulikhet forest area while police were searching for him.
Preliminary police investigation indicates that Bohara had been drinking alcohol with seven other people before the incident.
Police said they also recovered a video recording in which some of those present were allegedly heard threatening to kill Bohara.
Based on the video evidence and initial findings at the scene, police have detained seven individuals for further questioning. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
The suspects are being brought to the Area Police Office, Malakheti, as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police also recovered Bohara's cap, mobile phone and slippers from the scene.
