Seven hurt in madrasa brawl
Sarlahi, August 2 :
Seven persons were injured today in a brawl that ensued between office-bearers of two different management committees of a single religious school (Madrasa).
An argument between president Mohammed Hussain and Abdul Kalam of two different management committees in the Miswahula Olum Madrasa at Pipariya VDC took an ugly turn. According to police inspector at the Sarlahi district police office, Sudip Joshi, those injured are Mohammed Ali Hussain, Wokil Shesh, Ubaidh Shesh, Isaful Shesh, Wajul Shesh and Mohammed Shesh of Pipariya VDC - 5. They are undergoing treatment in the Sarlahi hospital in Malangwa.
The Department of Education in Kathmandu had issued a notice that each madrasa will get Rs 3,300 as scholarship grant. Following the notice, the two management committees were formed with the initiative of locals for running the Miswahula Olum Madrasa. The inspector of the District Education Office, Nurul Haque, said both the management committees are vying for recognition. In Sarlahi, 60 madrasas are in operation, where 10,000 children of the Muslim community study.
Headmaster of the Islamiya Madrasa at Sakraul-8 in Shivanagar, Lugam Mustafa Noorie said: “Two hundred teachers are employed in the madrasas.” Urdu, Arabi, Parsi, English and Nepali are taught there, he said.
